Hair Care is something we begin to care about as we grow into the teenage. A lot about our youthfulness depends on its glow and appearance. Even though oiling the hair seems to be an uncomfortable thing during our childhood, as grown-ups we can’t help but thank our mothers and grandmothers for insisting on it. There is no other ultimate solution when compared to oiling the hair when it comes to nurturing stronger and healthy hair.

Ayurvedic oils are found to be more effective and beneficial considering their authenticity and the natural advantage they always offer. They are also free of impurities and can be trusted for natural nourishment. We have compiled a set of five absolute benefits you can look forward to experience by using Ayurvedic oils for your hair care, maintenance and nourishment.

1.      Ayurvedic Hair Oils are helpful in sustaining the bright and dark color of your hair. Going back to the ancient times, it is a common belief that people who didn’t apply oil regularly had witnessed grey hair early when compared to those who used hair oils.

 2.      They are effective in ensuring your hair growth. Applying hair oil and massaging the scalp with it will help in strengthening the hair along with promising growth. Oil can penetrate into the scalp and help in enhanced blood circulation which plays an important role in improving the hair growth pattern.
 3.      Hair oil serves as a protective layer to your hair. It is natural for dust to stick on to your hair when exposed to any highly polluted external environment. Applying oil will protect your hair from any possible damage caused due to pollution. Oils also help in tackling itching and irritation apart from keeping your head scalp cool and protected.
 4.      Oil prevents the growth of hair lice, dandruff and dryness. Many Ayurvedic Hair Oils have anti fungal properties because of which they protect your scalp from constant fungal activity. Shampooing and oiling your hair on a regular basis would be much better than using medicinal solutions to prevent hair lice and dandruff, their effect remains for a very short term.
 5.      Oil works as an ultimate hair conditioner that improves the glow, shine and strength of your hair. Apart from enhancing the smoothness of your hair, they can be trusted for preventing hair loss from time to time. Hair fall usually occurs when the hair is dry, tight and stiff. Once your hair is conditioned enough with regular oiling, dryness can be easily removed.

Rosy a public relation officer of renowned private school came with her 10 years daughter to our clinic who was suffering from cough, fever, throat pain. After detailed history taking she revealed that she was consulting pediatricians for the throat infection and was receiving antipyretics, antibiotics as a result of it she was getting temporary relief but at the same time suffering from gastritis and  losing her appetite. She was refusing to eat and becoming weak. Every 2 to 3 weeks she was suffering from similar events again and again. Because of these repeated episodes she became very irregular in school which affected her scholastic performance.

She was frustrated with her daughter’s condition. Her colleague advised her to take Ayurvedic opinion for this.

Many mothers of school going children have similar experiences. Children are more prone for respiratory infectious diseases as they have less immunity. Many times they suffer from tonsillitis. Tonsillitis is nothing but swelling of lymph glands present in the throat after viral or bacterial infection. Its symptoms are throat pain, fever and cough. Repeated occurrence of tonsillitis doctors often advice removal of tonsils (tonsillectomy).

If it is timely treated with Ayurvedic medicines we can prevent repeated infections and also can avoid surgical removal of tonsils by improving immunity which resists infection and severity of disease.

I examined her daughter and prescribed few medicines with immunoboosters and told her to take it for at least 3 months .I also explained her few home remedies and called her for regular follow up at every 2 weeks. Her frequency and severity of infection reduced as days passes. Her appetite improved and started eating adequately and gained weight.

After 3 months when she came for follow up her daughter had not missed her school and showing improvement in academics. I changed her medicines and prescribed few immune boosters and told her to continue it for another 3 to 4 months.

Rosy thanked Ayurveda because of which today she is a happy mom.

The amazing benefits of Chyawanprash are very well known to the people with some sort of awareness about the natural methods of immunity building. But, there are host of benefits that are exclusively meant for kids that are not so popularly known. It is common for children to face breathing related issues and complications while they grow up. Part of the reason is lack of immunity that makes them prone to such disorders. Recurrent cough, cold and breathing difficulties are all related and they have the potential to constantly weaken the immunity of a child. It’s a web comprising of respiratory challenges. It is interesting to note that immunity deficiency can cause respiratory challenges in children and they will further weaken the immunity in children. It’s like a cycle of events that must be dealt with at the earliest. Boosting the immunity in children is one of the best ways to tackle any healthcare disorder which is pretty much a reality when it comes to rescuing kids from the web of cough, cold and breathing problems. Going by the annals of Ayurveda, perhaps there is no better natural solution than Chyawanprash to build and sustain immunity in children.

Why Chyawanprash for kids?

Chyawanprash is nothing but a jam like preparation made with Amla as a key ingredient. The other herbal remedies added to it are defined by their exclusive functions contributing towards the improvement of digestive functions, energy enhancement, disease resistance and development of nervous system leading to better memory and intelligence.

  • According to Ayurveda, inconsistencies in the digestive system are often referred as the root cause for various disorders. Every time the body encounters a disorder, it is mostly due to weakened immunity.
  • Chyawanprash, being a ‘Rasayana’ has all the rich ingredients for the rejuvenation of tissues. It also has antioxidants like ‘vitamin C’ that are quite effective in the treatment of degenerative diseases.
  • Apart from Amalaki  (which is a rich source of vitamin C), it has almost 35 natural herbs that are known for their respective role in preventing various disorders and collectively boosting the immunity in children.

How to use

For kids, one or two teaspoons of Chyawanprash can be given along with milk in the morning before breakfast. It can also be given with a glass of water instead of milk if someone is lactose intolerant. Milk or water is essential to neutralize its hot potency attributed by the herbal ingredients used in the process of preparation. Though daily intake is preferred, it can also be used as a medicine as and when the need arises.

There are quite a few brands of Chyawanprash available in the market, exclusively meant for kids. Consult your Ayurvedic Doctor for better understanding about the ideal methods of using Chyawanprash.
