Minor wounds, cuts and scrapes are an indispensable part of our everyday life. No matter how careful you are, a few injuries are just bound to happen. Ayurveda offers some of the marvelous home remedies to treat these minor injuries. However, in case of a severe or major injury, it is recommended to rush to the doctor for consultation.
Here we have assembled some easily available kitchen ingredients that offer great help in case of minor bruises.
When it comes to healing wounds turmeric tops the chart as it not only soothes the pain but also fastens healing, prevents infection and reduces the risk of formation of a scar. Curcumin, the magic potion in turmeric has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties that relieve inflammation and pain. The antibiotic action prevents bacterial infection of the wounds.
Tea Tree Oil
Tea Tree Oil is proven for its antiseptic properties and antibacterial properties that can kill even antibiotic-resistant bacteria. It gives instant relief in case of minor injuries.
The green jelly of the spiky leaves has amazing healing capabilities. It is known for its powerful antioxidants that promote healing and protect the wounds from infections. Its anti-inflammatory benefits that reduce pain and swelling in the wound. It helps soothing wounds by providing a protective coating around the wound, stimulating the rate of healing and reducing the risk of infection.
Applying coconut oil on the wounds help to stop bleeding speeds up the healing process besides protecting the wound from dirt and dust. Coconut oil has anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties that protect your wounds from infection.
Jatyadi oil is widely used for soothing, cleansing and healing the wounds and burns. It has better and faster healing properties.
Sandalwood has antiseptic properties that protect the wound from bacterial infections. This oil reduces inflammation and pain due to the wounds.
The sacred tulsi leaves are hailed by Ayurveda for its magical powers. Tulsi water is very effective in healing wounds as it helps in faster recovery and prevents infections caused by germs.
Neem has antiseptic and curative properties that make it an amazing first aid for wounds. It closes the wounds faster, protects it from infections, takes away the pain and reduces the chances of getting a scar.
Onions are rich in antioxidants that stimulate the immune system and kills bacteria that can cause infection in the wound. Applying onion to the wound also fastens healing and decreases the chances of infection.
Steps to follow for first aid treatment for wounds:
Wash the wound with clean water and use an antibacterial cleanser and gently dry the area.
Apply direct pressure to the injured area to stop the bleeding.
Apply any of the above mentioned Ayurvedic pastes over the wound for immediate relief and to reduce the risk for infection.
Keep the wound covered with a bandage or a clean cloth.
